#WildCardWednesday: Master Shortie – ‘Dead End’

Master Shortie Banner

This week I’ve chosen Master Shortie as the #WildCardWednesday track. Master Shortie (born Theo Jerome Kerlin) is a London-based rapper who attended BRIT School until the age of 14 and at one time played Simba in the West-End production of Disney’s The Lion King.

This particular song, Dead End, was taken from his debut album, A.D.H.D. which was released back in 2009 and features (uncredited) vocals from none other than Labrinth (Timothy McKenzie). It has a very clear funk rhythm to it with its prominent guitar riff and then Labrinth’s distinct vocals in the chorus.

There were a couple of videos made for this song; the one I’ve chosen is the one which features Labrinth, which you can see below.

What do you think of this track? You feeling the funk as a mid-week pick-me-up? What’s your #WildCardWednesday track of choice?
