Right, so normally my #WildCardWednesday posts are saved for unusual song choices, album tracks, unsigned artists, etc. however, this one is an odd choice and somewhat a backhanded compliment. It’s a very current song and Meghan Trainor is a popular artist right now.

This track is my #WildCardWednesday song of choice because it’s catchy and fun, however at the crux of the track, lyrically, it is rather poor – “What’s that icy thing hangin’ ’round my neck? That’s gold, show me some respect.” – I mean lyrically that’s not great – why should someone be shown respect for owning some gold jewellery?!

However, this song is catchy, fun, upbeat and got a good beat behind it so it’s definitely worthy of a listen!

The other controversial points I want to make are:

  1. Why does she keep mentioning ‘bass’?!
  2. Is she actually “plus-sized”? No! She’s an average-sized, attractive woman; it’s just that pop media that insist on skinny waists, making her appear to be larger than she is, because others in the industry aren’t!

That aside, Meghan Trainor‘s voice is great in this song and the song is very enjoyable!

What do you think of Meghan Trainor? Are you a fan of this track? Got any similar ones to share with us? Please drop your #WildCardWednesday song choice in a comment below.
