Having supported All Saints on their UK tour in 2016 and released a couple of hit singles, I chatted to up-and-coming, Norwegian pop singer, Hanne Leland about her upcoming plans.

We talked about her upcoming single, ‘You Don’t Own Me’ (out 09/06/17), discussed what inspires her music, found out what chocolate bar she’d be and considered her grandmother’s good advice. It’s all here…

Thanks so much to Hanne for taking the time to chat to us and to Bjørnar for setting up this interview.

Hanne Leland‘s releases are all available:

Hey Muzik Speakerz!

March 2016 has been another great month and saw us turn 1 year old!

We did an interview with Lucy Spraggan and a review of her show, when she performed in Brighton and did a series of special birthday playlists for each themed day; #MellowMonday#Two4Tunesday#WildCardWednesday#ThrowbackThursday and #FeelGoodFriday.

We’ve had a blast and been so proud to have hit the milestone of our first birthday and coming up next month, should be more interviews and reviews (in particular, Patent Pending…again! But this time, in person; which guarantees to be a massive laugh!) as well as our usual posts to bring you music for each of our themed days.

We hope that you have enjoyed this month’s songs and you can find both the Spotify and YouTube playlists below!

As always, please keep sharing our posts and remember to share your song choices with us by commenting on our posts or talking to us on Twitter and Facebook.

#WildCardWednesday: All Saints – ‘One Strike’

All Saints came to an abrupt end in 2001 after some sort of “jacket incident” which ultimately lead to the group’s demise, after just two albums. Then, in 2006, the group reformed and released their third (and rather good!) studio album, Studio 1, but sadly due to poor sales (which was the label’s fault, I might add!) split again.

It’s now, a decade later, that the group have reformed and are gearing up to release their fourth studio album, Red Flag.

Preceding the album, is this single, ‘One Strike’. What I love about this song, is that it just sounds like the group have never been apart and have been making their natural progressions, maturing their sound, but still keeping it pop at the core. It’s very ‘All Saints‘ but without seeming out-of-date, however this band have always had a mature, ahead-of-their-time edge to their sound.

This song has left me very excited for their new album! Are you guys just as excited as I am? Would you have chosen a different song for #WildCardWednesday today? Please share this link on your social media accounts.

#Playlist: March 2015

So, rather like a ‘Now That’s What I Call Music’ compilation, I thought it might be cool to do a YouTube and Spotify playlist of the month’s songs from now on, instead of each week’s playlist on a Sunday, that way you get the whole month’s songs to look forward to at the end of the month. What do you think?

I can’t believe this blog has been live for a month already! You’ve had tracks from Dappy, Jess Glynne, Justin Timberlake, All Saints and more.

I hope you enjoy these songs (sorry some are missing from the Spotify playlist – some haven’t been released yet and some haven’t been allowed on Spotify by the artist). It’s a little look back at March 2015.

Note: You can view the whole YouTube playlist by using the dropdown menu at the top corner of the video, or skip a song using the ‘next’ button.

Week 1: 2015 – The Playlist

Hey,

So, what an amazing first week of the ‘Muzik Speaks’ launch; we had massive support from Frankmusik and Dappy, which was amazing and made us very excited about what might be in store, next week! Below, you can find a summary playlist of the week’s songs, in case you want to listen to them all again (some are missing, because they’ve not been released yet), in one place!

Enjoy 🙂

Who’s looking forward to Week 2?! Get thinking of songs to share!

#ThrowbackThursday: All Saints – ‘Pure Shores’

All Saints Banner

Oh my days, what a tune! This song is epic! I can’t really say much more than that; superb build up, leading to an epic chorus!

So much love for this song – it takes me back to when I was about 12 years old…and I still love it 15 years later!

What song is evoking memories for you today? Share what your Throwback Thursday song is 🙂
