There is no doubting that Disney’s re-make of their classic tale, Beauty and the Beast, is a huge success and being adored by fans, the world over. As such, it seemed a fitting time to feature one of the songs from the soundtrack for #WildCardWednesday.

I love Disney’s original animated version, in fact it’s probably one of my favourite Disney films, particularly the soundtrack. As such, I was dubious when I heard they were remaking it, with the original songs and felt even more anxious to hear that they were adding new songs too! However, the team have done a sterling job of not only reimagining such classic songs but incorporating new music, without it seeming out of place.

I have deliberately featured ‘Evermore’ today as I felt this was my favourite song from the soundtrack – it’s filled with passion and all the finesse a good musical song should have!

The soundtrack and film were stunning in just about every way; I left the cinema not only wishing that I could re-watch it immediately, but excited to see and hear the other remakes Disney have in the pipeline!

#Two4Tunesday: Disney’s Beauty and the Beast – ‘Be Our Guest’ & Disney’s Aladdin – ‘Friend Like Me’

This week’s a special #Two4Tunesday with two massive Disney songs, taken from the sensational Beauty and the Beast and action-packed Aladdin.

Beauty and the Beast Banner

Beauty and the Beast is surely one of, if not the most memorable film Disney has ever made…surely?! It is the perfect combination of magic, darkness, beauty, beastliness, enchantment and musical-style songs.

Released in 1991, Disney’s 30th animated classic was based on a traditional French fairy tale and featured the unmistakable voice of Angela Lansbury.

‘Be Our Guest’ features the amazing Angela Lansbury and the voice of Lumière, Jerry Orbach and is the scene in which the enchanted household objects welcome Belle to the Beast’s castle. The song received nominations for Golden Globes and Academy Awards, and it’s well-deserved!

‘Be Our Guest’ is on iTunes now – https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/be-our-guest-from-disneys/id929718978?i=929719121

Aladdin Banner

‘Friend Like Me’ is taken from the 1992 Disney film, Aladdin and features the amazing vocals from the late Robin Williams. Williams used his trademark voice talents to bring many accents and interesting aspects to the song; it honestly wouldn’t have been the same without him!

The film’s soundtrack clearly reflects the Arabian style with its specific sound.

Interesting Fact: On the older version of the film (the original VHS and DVD releases) you can hear Aladdin whisper to Jasmine, during the balcony scene, “Take off your clothes”…saucy!

‘Friend Like Me’ is also available on iTunes now – https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/friend-like-me-from-disneys/id929718978?i=929719094
