Gorillaz are a virtual band who formed in 1998 and released their debut track in 2001.

‘Clint Eastwood’ was the band’s debut single released off their debut album, in 2001. The song was named after the actor due to it’s similarity to the theme music of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

The song blends electronic music, dub, hip hop and rock and features rap verses from Del the Funky Homosapien. It sold just shy of 500,000 copies, reached Number 4 in the UK Charts and was ranked Number 38 in Rolling Stone’s Top 100 songs of 2000s.

The video is incredible too, due to its animation and the fact that we were introduced to the fictional members of the band in an interesting way.

Do you remember the Gorillaz? I wonder what they’re up to now? When will they release new material? Please share you favourite Gorillaz song below or via social media and have a happy #ThrowbackThursday.
