The Knocks are an electronic music duo from New York, consisting of Ben “B-Roc” Ruttner and James “JPatt” Patterson. Their name actually comes from when the pair made beats in their apartment and would get “the knocks” from their neighbours, to keep the noise down.

They’ve earned recognition for their productions and remixes for a whole host of bands and artists, including Ellie GouldingBritney SpearsThe 1975Jack ÜFoster The People and Haim.

They’ve since gone on to record a string of singles and their debut album, 55, which features an incredible array of acts, including Alex NewellSt Lucia and Walk The Moon.

‘Collect My Love’, which features Alex Newell‘s trademark vocals, is one of the singles they released from the album and it’s got some serious funk going on – it’s reminiscent of Daft Punk‘s ‘Get Lucky’. The video for the song is pretty quirky too – it’s got that urban feel but with an air of “getting ready for a night out”; it’s just good fun!

What do you think of these guys? Has it given you that #FeelGoodFriday vibe? Please share this link on your social media sites!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hey-hey fellow Speakerz!

It’s been another amazing month, full of wonderful music!

We’ve eased you into the week with songs by Chicane, The Japanese House, The Fray and Years & Years, brought you new music from Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, K Stewart, Sia and Justin Bieber, thrown back your musical memories with Meat Loaf, Sweet Female Attitude, Bjork and Sam Sparro and brought you some unusual songs by INHEAVEN, V1BE and Låpsley.

Chicane shared our post and we’ve been lining up some interviews for November – it’s been an amazing month and I can’t wait for November to start!

We hope you have enjoyed our song choices throughout October and you can find the Spotify and YouTube playlists below!

#StrangeSunday: The 1975 – ‘Love Me’ & Skrillex – ‘Summit’ featuring Ellie Goulding

Like our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/muzikspeaks)

Follow us on Twitter (www.twitter.com/muzik_speaks)

Today I’m having a bit of a #StrangeSunday because I’m loving two completely opposing sorts of tracks; The 1975 just released their new single, from their forthcoming second album, I Like It When You Sleep – For You Are So Beautiful – Yet So Unaware Of It, called ‘Love Me’ and although on first listen I wasn’t sure about it, I’m actually excited about this new direction for them and can’t wait to see them live in November!

My opposing track is ‘Summit’ by Skrillex, featuring Ellie Goulding, taken from 2011’s ‘Bangarang EP’. The song is combination of electronica, EDM and pop, all at their best. The cut-up samples of Sonny’s voice are amazing and the song builds progressively in anticipation of Ellie Goulding’s voice which is just the icing on the cake. It’s a remarkable song and perfect for this calm and pleasant Sunday evening.

What do you think of my #StrangeSunday? Are you having the same sort of mash up of different songs? Please share them with us.

Howdy Speakerz!

So, this month we got back in the swing of things and came back in full force! We shared new tracks by MOKS featuring James Arthur, Nick Jonas, Ellie Goulding, Pentatonix and Justin Bieber.

We also brought some Mellow Tracks by Timeflies and Ryan Adams, threw some Thursdays back with City High, Mary Mary and Stacie Orrico and brought some wild-card tracks by Galantis and Cartel.

We even did another interview, with Life Of Dillon and hopefully we’ll be bringing you another one in October!

We hope you have enjoyed our song choices throughout September and you can find the Spotify and YouTube playlists below!

NEW BANNERS!

This month, we’re bringing you two new banners; ‘Happy Robot’ (at the top of this post!) and ‘Dopey Face’ – keep an eye out for them both at the top of our blog!

#Two4Tunesday: Ellie Goulding – ‘On My Mind’ & Pentatonix – ‘Can’t Sleep Love’ featuring Tink

Since releasing the Fifty Shades Of Grey inspired Love Me Like You Do, Ellie Goulding is back with this incredibly fresh and interesting offering, ‘On My Mind’.

Miss Goulding is preparing to release her third album, ‘Delirium’, on 6th November and this looks to be her first new release from the record.

It’s such a great move for her and sees her taking on a new sound and it really suits her. It’s definitely got me excited to hear the rest of the album! A music video for the track was just released yesterday and it’s steamy as anything…go Ellie!

‘On My Mind’ is available for download from iTunes right now – https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/on-my-mind/id1040134609?i=1040134775

Ellie Goulding – ‘On My Mind’

Pentatonix Banner

You probably already know of Pentatonix, as they’re probably one of the biggest a cappella groups on the internet! The quintet are widely known for their unique covers of pop songs, like ‘Daft Punk’ and ‘Radioactive’, but this release sees them trying their hand at original material…and what an amazing step this is for them!

‘Can’t Sleep Love’ (featuring Tink) is so catchy and their harmonies are just perfection; very reminiscent of Justin Timberlake’s and have quite a vintage feel to them. If this song is anything to go by, their upcoming, originals album should be sensational!

‘Can’t Sleep Love’ (with and without Tink) can be downloaded now – https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/cant-sleep-love-feat.-tink/id1035387084?i=1035387851

#Playlist: March 2015

So, rather like a ‘Now That’s What I Call Music’ compilation, I thought it might be cool to do a YouTube and Spotify playlist of the month’s songs from now on, instead of each week’s playlist on a Sunday, that way you get the whole month’s songs to look forward to at the end of the month. What do you think?

I can’t believe this blog has been live for a month already! You’ve had tracks from Dappy, Jess Glynne, Justin Timberlake, All Saints and more.

I hope you enjoy these songs (sorry some are missing from the Spotify playlist – some haven’t been released yet and some haven’t been allowed on Spotify by the artist). It’s a little look back at March 2015.

Note: You can view the whole YouTube playlist by using the dropdown menu at the top corner of the video, or skip a song using the ‘next’ button.
