#FeelGoodFriday: P!nk – ‘Walk Me Home’

P!nk is a truly inspirational artist and is always true to herself, which is why she has just become the very worthy winner (and first ever international artist) of this year’s Outstanding Contribution to Music Award at the Brit Awards 2019.

With 7 albums already under her belt and an upcoming UK tour in support of her last album, Beautiful Trauma (2017), it seems a fitting time for her to put out a new song.

‘Walk Me Home’ is the lead single taken from her upcoming eighth album, Hurts 2B Human. It’s a strong, acoustic-led track with a really cutting vocoder vocal that reverberates right through you. It was even penned with previous duetting partner, Nate Ruess as well as Grammy Award-winner, Scott Friedman, so it’s bound to be a big hit!

Although the track is somewhat somber in tone through the verses, it kicks in to a powerful, all-consuming chorus that just elevates. It’s uplifting and puts out big positive vibes – perfect for a #FeelGoodFriday!

No video has been put out yet but when one does, I’m sure it’ll be epic!

#ThrowbackThursday: Lenny Kravitz – ‘Fly Away’

facebook-like   Instagram

Lenny Kravitz is well-known for his retro vibes and fusion of various genres, from rock to reggae, folk to funk and soul to psychedelic.

Back in 1998, Kravitz released ‘Fly Away’, one of his most successful singles to date, reaching Number 1 in the UK Charts.

The song was in fact the fourth single to be taken from his fifth album, 5, and due to the huge success of it, not only boosted sales of the album but also earned him a Grammy Award in 1999 for Best Male Rock Performance.

The track is incredibly catchy with its funk bass line and gritty vocals – it’s no wonder it rocketed to the top of the charts.

The music video was directed by Paul Hunter (Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and more) and features Kravitz and his band performing in a club, surrounded by a crowd, dancing and getting frisky. It’s a very iconic video for the artist and shows a real passion in his performance…something he definitely pours into his live shows!

What are your thoughts of this wonderfully unique artist? Did you love this track first time around? Do you still love it now? What’s your favourite Lenny Kravitz track? Please leave your thoughts or song suggestions in a comment or via social media.

#ThrowbackThursday / #ThrowbackThreesday: Avril Lavigne – ‘Complicated’, ‘Sk8er Boi’ & ‘I’m With You’

Avril Lavigne – ‘Complicated’

Avril Lavigne first burst onto the scene with her infectious, mellow pop rock single, ‘Complicated’ back in May 2002 (15 years ago!!!) and it skyrocketed to the Top 3 spots all around the globe!

The music video was fun and saw Lavigne crashing a mall and getting up to mischief but also performing scenes in a skate park – such an iconic look for the singer.

The song was also nominated for two Grammy Awards and featured on her debut album, Let Go.

Avril Lavigne – ‘Sk8er Boi’

Then, later in 2002, Avril Lavigne released her follow-up single, and one of my favourite songs of hers, ‘Sk8er Boi’. This song was also a huge commercial success for her around the globe and also scored her a Grammy nomination in 2003.

A much more upbeat track to her debut, and far more punky, the video is equally as mischievous, if not more so; the singer sets up a guerilla performance which people flock to, causing chaos and anarchy in the streets. The police try to track her down as she smashes her guitar through a windscreen, before a police copter hovers over her. It’s such an epic video for an awesome, catchy yet punchy song. That green t-shirt and red tie combo had fan girls emulating her across the globe.

Avril Lavigne – ‘I’m With You’

Lastly, ‘I’m With You’ was the third single from her debut album and another favourite of mine. It was the first ballad Avril Lavigne released as a single and scored her yet another Grammy nomination in 2004. It’s a song that’s brimming with passion and even has hints of country to it; an epic song.

The music video sees Lavigne spend a lot of time alone, wandering the streets in search of someone. It is interspersed with party footage but all shot in slow-motion, making it look all the more spectacular.

This song just went on to cement the diversity Avril Lavigne has in her songwriting – she is just awesome. End of.

#FeelGoodFriday: Marianas Trench – ‘Who Do You Love’

Canadian pop-rock band, Marianas Trench are beginning to make big waves over here, in the UK.

With a massive fanbase in their home-country (Canada), frontman Josh Ramsay having received a Grammy nomination in 2013 for co-writing and producing Carly Rae Jepsen‘s ‘Call Me Maybe’ and following a small sold out tour last summer, the band have announced a full UK tour (starting in May 2017) and new UK single, ‘Who Do You Love’. The song is impeccably produced and the vocal harmonies at the beginning of the track are just immense. It’s a truly transcendent track that was just beginning to be a #FeelGoodFriday song, the moment I heard it.

I’m hoping to try and catch the band at the Brighton date of their upcoming tour – hopefully see some of you guys there 🙂

For the new UK single ‘Who Do You Love’, the band decided against making a traditional music video, instead choosing to use the funds to make a difference and inspire others to go out and do some good. Some of the situations included sharing funds with individuals to more elaborate, pay-it-forward-style scenarios that benefit groups of people. The scenarios themselves were pre-arranged but the reactions weren’t, leading to honest, authentic and heart-warming reactions from everyone involved. Make sure you watch the video below.

What are your thoughts of this superb track? Have you already heard of the band? Would you like to hear more from them? Please leave your thoughts in a comment or hit us up via our social media accounts.

Have a great weekend everyone!

#ThrowbackThursday: Michael Jackson – ‘Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough’

This #ThrowbackThursday is a rather special one; Michael Jackson was, in my opinion, the most incredibly talented singer and performer and I think his work should be admired for how fantastic it was and still is.

Not only that, but his first, adult, solo album, ‘Off The Wall, is due for re-release on 26/02/16, accompanied with the brand new Spike Lee documentary, Michael Jackson’s Journey from Motown to Off The Wall – which I am very lucky to be going to see the premier of, today, at the BAFTA headquarters in London! The film is said to chronicle Michael Jackson‘s rise through the creation of the ‘Off The Wall’ album, and is the second Jackson-orientated documentary that Lee has made.

‘Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough’ was released back in 1979 and was written solely by Jackson himself. It was co-produced by Jackson, alongside producer-extraordinaire, Quincy Jones, who went on to collaborate with Jackson, many more times throughout his career.

This song gained Michael Jackson his first solo Grammy Award and American Music Award – both massive achievements! It’s just a down-right, awesome, funk-filled, disco-dancing anthem; I love it!

Are you an MJ fan? What song of his would you pick for a #ThrowbackThursday? Share you thoughts in a comment below or on social media, along with this link.

RAMS are a pop-rock trio who began in Denver, back in 2004, not long before Ben Wysocki and David Welsh joined the Grammy-nominated band, The Fray. Singer Aaron Espe went on to have his own solo career, whilst the other two enjoyed their success as a part of The Fray.

The three would get together and write music and even when The Fray were taking breaks from touring, they would get together to write and record.

It’s only now, after more than 10 years in the making, that RAMS has come into fruition with their debut EP. Their music is unique as the hooks sit beautifully atop dreamy melodies created by a culmination of electric guitars and synths. I want big things for these guys!

No music video has arisen yet, but we’ll keep you posted on this.

What do you think of this trio’s sound? Are you intrigued for me, like we are? Please share the love for RAMS on your social media accounts!

Foxes is a London-based singer who shot to fame when her vocals were featured on Zedd‘s 2013 song, ‘Clarity’, which went on to win a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording.

Since then, Foxes has released her debut album and is now immanently about to drop her second album, All I Need.

‘Amazing’ is one of the songs taken from her follow-up album and it’s a real belter! It’s a great combination of pop and electronic music and it may not be your obvious pop, chart-topper but it’s definitely making my Friday much better!

I’m also looking forward to meeting her at the album launch in HMV in Brighton on 7th February 2016 – anyone else going?! Please share this on your social medias!

Elle King – ‘Ex’s & Oh’s’

Elle King is an alternative pop/pop rock/alternative rock singer who burst onto the scene with her debut single, ‘Ex’s & Oh’s’ back in September 2015.

Her song is about past relationships and the music video is rife with innuendo! The song itself received two nominations at the 58th Grammy AwardsBest Rock Performance and Best Rock Song and it’s clear to see why! It’s a massive tune!

Also, Joe Ragosta (from Patent Pending) recently revealed that this is one of his favourite songs right now, in his Skype interview with us, for Muzik Speaks.

#FeelGoodFriday: Melanie Fiona – ‘Please Don’t Go (Cry Baby)’

Melanie Fiona Banner

This song defines ‘feel-good’ for me! Whenever I’m down, this is the song I play to pick myself up again! It’s catchy, it’s upbeat, it’s reminiscent of Motown with a clear soul edge to it – it’s just so HAPPY!

Melanie Fiona is from Canada and has worked with the likes of Drake; she was previously signed to Universal Motown Records but now resides with Universal Republic Records and has even received a Grammy Nomination for ‘Best Female R&B Vocal Performance’, for her single ‘It Kills Me’.

This song was never released as a single, but was instead an album track from her debut album, ‘The Bridge’. I really don’t know what more I can say about this; it’s just AWESOME!
