#TunefulTuesday: Justin Bieber – ‘Anyone’

facebook_logos_PNG19751.png    ios_homescreen_icon.png   app-icon2.png

Justin Bieber is a Canadian pop powerhouse, notable for songs such as What Do You Mean?Sorry and Where Are Ü Now.

‘Anyone’ marks the first new song since the release of his 2020 album, Changes and sees the singer take on a new, optimistic sound somewhere between 1980s and 1990s pop.

When talking about the song, Bieber said: “‘Anyone’ is such a special, hopeful, anthemic song. It sets the tone for a brighter new year full of hope and possibility.” It couldn’t have come at a better time with its release on January 1st 2021, setting the tone for a new year and new hope.

So far, the song has reached Number 4 in the UK Singles Chart.

In the music video, Bieber portrays a 1940s boxer whose love for his partner inspires him to train, fight, and eventually overcome a potential knock-out on his journey to becoming a champion boxer. He even covered up all his tattoos for the shoot. It’s well worth a watch.

#MellowMonday: Justin Bieber – ‘Intentions (Acoustic)’

facebook_logos_PNG19751.png    ios_homescreen_icon.png   app-icon2.png

It’s #MellowMonday and today is all about the acoustic version of Justin Bieber‘s latest single, ‘Intentions’.

The original version features Quavo but for this stripped-back version, Bieber has chosen to go at it alone. This particular rendition shows off his dynamic and impeccably talented vocals perfectly, and is a nice nod to his origins of being more acoustic based.

The almost rap-like flows of some of the vocal melodies make for a really interesting experience on an acoustic track but they work really well.

The overall chill vibes of this track are ideal for a relaxed Monday and although no music video exists for this version, your mind can’t help but wander to summer days and dream of lying on a beach or enjoying a BBQ with friends.

We’re addicted!

#FeelGoodFriday: Shawn Mendes – ‘In My Blood’ & ‘Lost In Japan’

facebook-like   Instagram

March 2018 saw the return of Shawn Mendes, who brought us not just one, but two brand new singles, both of which vary greatly in style but have equally brilliant Feel-Good Friday vibes. We just couldn’t decide which one to share, so figured, why not share both?!

‘In My Blood’ is a (pop)-rock ballad that transcends from a soft, despairing beginning into a thunderous, passionate anthem by the very first chorus and continues to soar from there. This track shows off just how incredible Mendes’ vocals are with their raspy tones that show just how intensely meaningful this song is.

Meanwhile, ‘Lost In Japan’ is a melting pot of contemporary funk with R&B and pop flavours too; it’s very reminiscent of something by Justin Timberlake. This track is also passionate but in a very different way; lyrically the song expresses how Mendes would happily travel the globe just to be close to his lover, all of which sits atop a heavy bassline and groovy guitar rhythms.

Sadly, no music videos have been released as yet, but as soon as they do, we’ll be sure to keep you updated.

What are your thoughts of Shawn Mendes’ two new singles? Are you as much of a fan as us? Have you got a #FeelGoodFriday track to recommend us? Please leave your thoughts or song suggestions in a comment or via our social media.

Justin Bieber – ‘Friends’ (with BloodPop®)

Justin Bieber is back with his first new music since his 2015 album, Purpose, and his new single, ‘Friends’, (with BloodPop®) is one heck of a banger!

The track is everything you want from a summery, club banger and it is unashamedly so. The EDM-inspired tune has rocketed straight to Number 2 in the UK charts – just where it deserves to be!

No official music video has been released yet, but the rather cool lyric video can be seen below.

‘Friends’ is on iTunes for downloading now! – https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/friends/id1271990063?i=1271990076

Rod Stewart & DNCE – ‘Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?’

Rod Stewart has re-recorded his 1978 hit, ‘Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?’ with Joe Jonas– fronted band, DNCE and it’s thrown it straight into the 21st Century, whilst still maintaining its funky feel.

It’s not changed too dramatically, which will keep Rod Stewart‘s fans happy and the addition of DNCE is sure to bring the track to a new audience – a great new rendition and a track I’m loving right now.

No official music video has been released as yet, but you can see the funky lyric video and live performance at 2017’s VMAs, below.

#MuzikSpeaks: An Interview with Frankmusik (2017)

It’s been nearly 2 years since we first interviewed the incredibly talented Frankmusik (see our previous interview here) and with the first release of his 2-part record, SS17, due out on June 17th (pre-order here), we thought it was about time to catch up with him.

Hey Vincent, how’s it going?
Very well thank you.

What have you been up to since our last interview with you?
Working on a two-part album. SS17 + AW17.

So, I love your recent singles ‘Going Under’ and ‘WYG’, is the rest of SS17 going to be similar?
Absolutely.

Have you written or recorded with anyone interesting recently?
Yeah, quite a few right now actually. But don’t want to single anyone out incase I forget to mention someone. You know, like no favourites between children type of thing. 😉

Which track on SS17 are you most excited for people to hear? Why?
The title track ‘June 17th’. I worked on it with Lindsay Lowend who co-produced the track. But really all of music excites me. So it’s kinda like picking favourites again. Maybe I’ll just say this, you’ll know why I picked ‘June 17th’ when you hear it. 😉

What made you decide to do 2 EPs this year? And where did you take inspiration to theme them along the lines of the fashion industry?
I decided to make a 2-part record because I wanted to shoot a music video for every track. Providing that amount of video content required me to split the music work load into two parts of the year. I got inspired by the fashion industries way of splitting collections by seasons from working with Anya Hindmarch. I’ve been creating the soundtrack to her runway shows since late 2015 now and really loved the idea of taking my music in a sort of ‘collection’ based release. There will be one mood for the summer SS17 + one for the winter AW17.

So does that mean that every track on both SS17 and AW17 will get their own music videos? If so, how has it been developing videos for each of those tracks?
That’s the idea. We’re going to try our best to shoot videos for all the songs. It’s been great. I’ve been making music for 10 years, I wanted to broaden my horizons. It’s been a big learning experience. Every video we learn something new.

Can you see yourself releasing like this again next year?
Potentially… It’s also because I produce music for so many other people it’s tough now a-days to dedicate a large portion of the year to just my personal project.

If you could do a collaboration with anyone, who would it be and why?
The Lemon Twigs. They’re about the only thing that really stood out to me this past year.

If you had to cover a recent chart song, which song would it be and why?
I like the production on Zedd’s Stay’, so maybe that one?

If someone else was to cover one of your songs, who would you like to hear do it and which song?
Justin Bieber – any song would make my day.

If a film were to be made about your life, who would you want to play you and why?
Daniel Radcliffe cos he’s hilarious.

Are there any plans to tour the UK soon?
Not right now.

Lastly, if you could be any chocolate bar, which one would you be?
Mars Bar, cos that’s my favourite.

It’s been nearly 3 years since Justin Timberlake released new music, but last week was when the day came for a new song from him!

Released as the lead song from the upcoming Dreamworks Animation film, ‘Trolls’, it has definitely got that feel-good factor! It’s got the perfect combination of dance-pop and funk mixed with a touch of old-school disco.

Critics have been loving this song, as have fans and it’s clear to see why – I really can’t get enough of it! Turn your volume to 11 and dance the hell out of it!

Are you a JT fan? Do you like this new sound? Would you like to hear more of this style from him? Please share your #FeelGoodFriday songs with us too.

#WildCardWednesday: Justin Timberlake – ‘Gimme What I Don’t Know (I Want)’

JT Banner

This song is my Wild-Card for the week. Why? Well, I recently re:DISCOVERED my love of Justin Timberlake’s vocals and musical style.

The song is the first track on Timberlake’s most recent album, ‘The 20/20 Experience – 2 of 2’. 2013 saw the return of Timberlake, after 7 years away from music, with the release of not one, but TWO albums.

This track has a lot to offer; fantastic harmonies, quality Timbaland production, quirky musical elements and sounds which bring the track to life, and jungle-like beats.

There’s something which gives me a thrill about singing the first line of the chorus, loudly in the car; “Now take me to your jungle, I’m not afraid”.

Crank up the volume and enjoy this gem!

What’s your Wild-Card? I’m excited to hear what interesting tracks people are listening to right now!
