#WildCardWednesday: Mark Ronson – ‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’ featuring Miley Cyrus

facebook-like   Instagram

Mark Ronson is certainly a household name already and having released several collaborative hit tracks this year, the five-time Grammy Award-winning artist and producer now returns with a brand new single of his own, ‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’ featuring the incredible Miley Cyrus.

The track was co-written by both Ronson and Cyrus, alongside Ilsey Juber, Thomas Brenneck, The Picard Brothers and Conor Rayne Syzmanski, and produced by Ronson, The Picard Brothers and Jamie XX.

The track serves as the first single to be taken from Mark Ronson’s forthcoming studio album, coming in 2019. It’s also his first pop single as a recording artist since the musical phenomenon that was Uptown Funk! However he’s been busy since then, co-writing the Number 1 song, ‘Shallow’ performed by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, featured in Cooper’s directorial debut, A Star Is Born, as well as being a member of supergroup, Silk City (with Diplo), releasing the Top 5 UK Chart hit, ‘Electricity’ featuring Dua Lipa.

The track is already making waves around the world, with video trending highly on YouTube. The high-energy video was filmed in Kiev, Ukraine, directed by WAFLA (We Are From LA) and executive-produced by Romain Gravas (M.I.A, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Jamie XX). It features Miley Cyrus being pursued by police with a tongue-in-cheek approach to the reasons behind it. It’s clearly a big-budget affair and really well shot – definitely worth a watch!

#MellowMonday: Miley Cyrus – ‘Inspired’

I absolutely love Miley Cyrus‘ voice – it’s so raspy and powerful – it’s truly unique!

After a couple of years out of the limelight, she has finally returned, first with Malibu‘ and now ‘Inspired’ (Surely this signifies a new album in the pipeline?) The song is full of honesty and a heartfelt message to make a change to the world and its environment; it’s a stunning track.

‘Inspired’ first debuted in the UK, at Ariana Grande‘s benefit concert, One Love Manchester, with an honest, emotional, acoustic performance (see below). Since then, she’s gone on to release the track but no official video has emerged yet; we’ll update you when one does.

What are your thoughts of Miley’s latest tune? Got a #MellowMonday track to recommend us? Please leave your thoughts or song suggestions in a comment or via social media.

#FeelGoodFriday: Miley Cyrus – ‘Malibu’

Miley Cyrus is back with her brand new track, ‘Malibu’, believed to be taken from a new album and damn it’s good! I’ve got a lot of time for this ex-Disney pop princess – her voice is so unique and diverse and she just manages to produce incredible tune after incredible tune.

This track is like a breath of fresh air from the songstress – it’s verses are mild in nature yet somehow the track is elevated with a distinct happiness during the choruses with the funky guitar riffs and gently thumping rhythms.

The video is simplistic yet fun; arty yet honest – the imagery really suits the track!

What a great new direction/return to her earlier sound, from such a superb artist – welcome back Miley Cyrus!

#FeelGoodFriday: Betty Who – ‘You Can Cry Tomorrow’

facebook-like

Instagram

Betty Who is an Australian-born singer-songwriter and musician based in New York City. She has been busy crafting her own unique brand of pop and cites Katy PerryMiley Cyrus and Robyn as some of her biggest influences.

Last year, she released an amazing cover of Donna Lewis’ ‘I Love You Always Forever’, which has been her biggest single to date. However the release of this single ‘You Can Cry Tomorrow’ (from her upcoming album The Valley) could well be even bigger.

The song is really uplifting with a brilliant hook; perfect for #FeelGoodFriday – although it looks at the concept of a relationship ending, it’s very empowering! She sings, ‘I know it’s been hard, To fight the worst part, So dance with me tonight, Baby, you can cry, Tomorrow’. It’s all about supporting you through the breakdown of a relationship and trying to stay positive. This song’s got me excited for her upcoming, second album!

No music video yet, but we’ll keep you posted!

What are your thoughts of Betty Who’s latest release? Are you looking forward to the album? Got your own #FeelGoodFriday suggestion for us? Leave us a comment or talk to us via our social media accounts.

Hey-hey campers!

This month’s compilation is a corker! As with last month, we’re bringing you both a YouTube and Spotify playlist of all of this month’s featured songs!

Muzik Speaks has now been live for 2 whole months and it’s growing fast! We’ve got a brand new writer, Max Paillard, who so far, has brought you some amazing Wild-Card Wednesday tunes and I’m personally looking forward to seeing what he brings next!

This month has brought you some fantastic tracks from the likes of; Lucy Spraggan, Macklemore, Miley Cyrus and Nick Jonas as well as songs from independent bands, like TEAM, New City Kings and The Barr Brothers and finally we’ve thrown-back your Thursdays with Bomfunk MCs, Fragma, Owl City and of course, the late Lil’ Chris.

We hope you enjoy these songs from April 2015, all over again, in one place – once again, sorry some of the tracks are missing from the Spotify playlist – some haven’t been released yet and some have been removed from Spotify by the artist/band.

Note: You can view the whole YouTube playlist by using the dropdown menu at the top corner of the video, or skip a song using the ‘next’ button.

#MellowMonday: Miley Cyrus – ‘Adore You’

Miley Cyrus Banner

Whatever you may think of the tongue-lolloping, terrible-twerking Miss Cyrus, this track is stunning! The song itself was written by Stacy Barthe (who also co-wrote; Katy Perry’s ‘Hummingbird Heartbeat’ and Rihanna’s ‘Cheers (Drink To That)’) and Oren Yoel.

Although Miley Cyrus did not write this track, she should be commended for her beautiful vocal delivery on it. The song is a mixture of light R&B with Pop and shows her more mature side to this “new” Miley. The video on the other hand…not so much – yet more writhing in a bathtub and on a bed mixed with night-vision “sex-tape-like” antics, but still…she’s “mature” now and that’s what all mature ladies do…right?!  😉

However, all jokes aside, delve into this track headfirst and mellow out to is beauty.

What do you think of Miley’s “new” look and her actions? A fan? Not a fan? What do you think of this particular song though? Share your thoughts and your own Mellow Monday tracks 🙂
