Having recently released his latest album Weightless back in December 2016 and a brand new tune, ‘Boy & Bear’, I had the privilege of talking to the fantastically talented, Nick Bertke (aka Pogo).
During our interview, Nick chatted about what it’s been like to work with Disney, what he’s got in store for releasing music this year, where he takes inspirations from and who he’d like to play him in a biographic film. It’s all in the interview video below!
I want to say a massive thanks to Nick himself for taking the time to make this interview happen! Such a genuine, lovely guy 😀
I really hope you enjoy watching this interview! Please show your support for the band by sharing the link to this post on all of your social media accounts!

I have been a big Pogo (aka Nick Bertke) fan for a while now and his latest song is just awesome.
To celebrate 75 years of M&Ms, Pogo has mixed together a whole range of their TV adverts to make one heck of a tune, filled with comedy, great sampling and awesome beats.
Are you already a Pogo fan? What do you think of his latest song? Have you got a similar song for us? Please share your #WildCardWednesday songs with us via our social media or in a comment below. Also, don’t forget to share this post and spread the word of Pogo.

‘Bite Size Candies’ has not been released to iTunes or Spotify yet, but we’ll keep you posted on this!
Today’s Disney post is a little different to normal, but I know you’ll love this tune!
‘The Trouble’ is a great example of how well modern styles can be brought into old Disney, as I also discovered with my #MellowMonday post.
I’ve been following Pogo‘s work for some time now and I’ve decided that Disney week would be the perfect time to share it with you guys (Matt’s also previously shared ‘Boo Bass‘ by Pogo)!
His production style is pretty uncommon: he uses snippets of various films which he mixes up and edits into unique songs. I’m a huge fan of everything he does though I can’t imagine how long each one must take to create!
The thing I love the most about his music technique is being able to recognise certain clips form the films, it’s almost as if you’re watching it.
I really like how Pogo & Jeesh managed to keep the themes and ideas of the oriningal Disney films (Dumbo, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Mary Poppins, The Little Mermaid and Aladdin are all featured in this track); the calmness and simplicity of the song expresses a happiness and innocence which is depicted through the movies too.
Go check out the music video, it’s well worth a watch:

So, rather like a ‘Now That’s What I Call Music’ compilation, I thought it might be cool to do a YouTube and Spotify playlist of the month’s songs from now on, instead of each week’s playlist on a Sunday, that way you get the whole month’s songs to look forward to at the end of the month. What do you think?
I can’t believe this blog has been live for a month already! You’ve had tracks from Dappy, Jess Glynne, Justin Timberlake, All Saints and more.
I hope you enjoy these songs (sorry some are missing from the Spotify playlist – some haven’t been released yet and some haven’t been allowed on Spotify by the artist). It’s a little look back at March 2015.
Note: You can view the whole YouTube playlist by using the dropdown menu at the top corner of the video, or skip a song using the ‘next’ button.

Pogo (aka Nick Bertke) is a fascinating, electronic musician from Perth, Australia; he is like the KING of sampling! He specialises in the sampling of small sounds, quotes and melodies from films, in particular, Disney films. I am an avid Disney fan and stumbled across this guy on YouTube; where he found notoriety. He has been sampling Disney films for several years now, as well as a whole host of other films, including Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, Harry Potter, Back to the Future and more.
This particular offering comes from the massive Disney/Pixar blockbuster, Monsters, Inc. featuring samples of main characters, Mike Wazowski, Sully and of course the adorable Boo. The song is a melodic masterpiece, both easy on the ear and delightful in is simplistic-sounding, complexity. I adore the way he’s managed to make Boo’s trademark giggle into a harmony with itself – pure genius!
What’s your #Wild-Card for this Wednesday? Please share this and reply with your song choice!
