Hey Muzik Speakerz!

March 2016 has been another great month and saw us turn 1 year old!

We did an interview with Lucy Spraggan and a review of her show, when she performed in Brighton and did a series of special birthday playlists for each themed day; #MellowMonday, #Two4Tunesday, #WildCardWednesday, #ThrowbackThursday and #FeelGoodFriday.

We’ve had a blast and been so proud to have hit the milestone of our first birthday and coming up next month, should be more interviews and reviews (in particular, Patent Pending…again! But this time, in person; which guarantees to be a massive laugh!) as well as our usual posts to bring you music for each of our themed days.

Twenty One Pilots – ‘Stressed Out’

Twenty One Pilots are an American musical duo who have merged hip hop with electropop to perfection.

The band have had several releases to date but ‘Stressed Out’ has been their most successful track in the UK to date, and the only one to chart (reaching Number 14).

This song possibly owes its commercial success to the lyrical content and it’s take on the darker sides of adolescent life transitioning into adulthood.

Timeflies – ‘Once In A While’

Timeflies have been featured on Muzik Speaks before and have been gathering a lot of online attention recently. The pair have even been collaborating with a whole range of artists including Mike Posner and Martin Johnson (singer of Boys Like Girls).

This song, ‘Once In A While’, is their most recent release and not taken from their 2015 album, Just For Fun – could this be a sign of a new album this year?!

There are elements of Kygo vibes with great vocals and their trademark hint of hip hop thrown in too – a great summery feel-good song.

Howdy Speakerz!

So, this month we got back in the swing of things and came back in full force! We shared new tracks by MOKS featuring James Arthur, Nick Jonas, Ellie Goulding, Pentatonix and Justin Bieber.

We also brought some Mellow Tracks by Timeflies and Ryan Adams, threw some Thursdays back with City High, Mary Mary and Stacie Orrico and brought some wild-card tracks by Galantis and Cartel.

We even did another interview, with Life Of Dillon and hopefully we’ll be bringing you another one in October!

#MellowMonday: Timeflies – ‘Stuck With Me’

Timeflies are an American duo consisting of producer Rob Resnick and vocalist Cal Shapiro. The pair began (like so many) by performing covers on YouTube before releasing some original works on their channel.

They are known for their blend of pop, electro, hip hop, R&B and rap and occasionally Resnick includes beatboxing into their work too.

This particular song, ‘Stick With Me’,  was released as a promotional single for their album ‘Just For Fun’ but its intriguing blend of finger snaps and what sounds like backwards samples, makes for a uniquely serene song.
