I can’t believe this song is now 10 years old!

Back in 2006, Christina Aguilera released ‘Ain’t No Other Man’ as the lead single to her album Back To Basics.

This song was the start of a new era for Aguilera, as she took on a new sound, incorporating soul, blues, jazz and funk. The track also featured a couple of samples a brass sample from “Hippy Skippy Moon Strut” by Dave Cortez & The Moon People, and a vocal sample “The Cissy’s Thang” by The Soul Seven.

The track did really well, reaching Number 2 in the UK charts and the music video was predictably 1920s themed and perfect for the song.

Were you a fan of the song, back in the day? Are you still a fan of the song? Have you got any good memories of this song? Please share your #ThrowbackThursday songs with us too!

#FeelGoodFriday: Maroon 5 – ‘Sugar (Remix)’ featuring Nicki Minaj

Maroon 5 Banner

In my opinion, Maroon 5 seem to go from strength to strength – they started out as more of a soft rock band and have gradually adapted and morphed into a more pop rock outfit, however each new album has brought its own style and delights.

Their most recent album, V, is fantastic and one of my immediate, stand-out tracks, was Sugar.

This song has since been released as a single, with a fantastic video; the band drive around surprising couples by spontaneously performing at their wedding. They managed to perform the song at several weddings, all in one day!

I have actually chosen the remix of Sugar, featuring Nicki Minaj, as there are elements to the remix which I really like, for their individuality. I think it’s very upbeat and it’s definitely making me feel great today!

Does this song give you that Friday feeling? What feel-good songs are you listening to today? Please leave a comment below and share the link to this post.
