All of the proceeds from this new single will benefit Feeding America’s COVID-19 relief fund, so go download it from the iTunes link below!

Angels & Airwaves are back with their first single of 2020 and their third potential single from the upcoming album. It’s an uplifting track about love and the message of spreading hope is clear.

What’s unclear is as to when the band recorded this latest song, but the song’s lyrics sure seem to reflect on society’s current self-isolation situation in response to the current coronavirus pandemic.

No music video exists as yet and presumably due to the aforementioned self-isolation, one could be a way off, as with the new album too!

As always, Tom shrouds the new album in mystery as far as a release date is confirmed but it is set to accompany a movie that’s also in the pipeline and the second half of the album is said to score the film, which is yet to enter production – hence the lack of release date yet. One thing is for certain, I’m really friggin’ excited for the follow up to 2014’s The Dream Walker.

What are your thoughts of this band’s latest single? Has it got you excited for their upcoming album? Do you have a #FeelGoodFriday or #NewMusicFriday track to recommend us? Please leave your thoughts or song suggestions in a comment or via social media.

#NewMusic: Angels & Airwaves – ‘Rebel Girl’

Angels & Airwaves are back!

Hands down, this is my all-time favourite band, ever and I am so pleased to see they are making a triumphant return to music!

Today (Tuesday 30th April), Tom Delonge and co, have released their first single in 3 years, ‘Rebel Girl’, marking somewhat of a return to their trademark, sci-fi meets industrial, stadium rock sound. However, there is definitely still a large amount of their more recent (The Dream Walker) influences too – probably in part due to Ilan Rubin and Aaron Rubin‘s hands in the writing. What’s more, it looks like David Kennedy and Matt Wachter are back too….though Matt doesn’t appear to be in the promo shots…curious!

“‘Rebel Girl’ is a space-age love song that combines my enduring obsession for New Wave, pop punk and anthemic rock and roll music,” says DeLonge. This would appear to be the signs of the band’s upcoming album release, and is believed to also coincide with a feature film too…it’s all very exciting!

It seems that in the 3 years since the band released their last EP, they have now signed a deal with Rise Records, also announcing their first live shows in seven years! Sadly, at the moment it would appear to be just a North American tour, but I have just about everything crossed for a mini UK tour…or even just a London date or two!

Unfortunately no music video has emerged yet, but we’ll keep you updated when one drops…in the meantime, enjoy the visual below.

All I have left to say is just, ‘Hell yeah!’ They’re back, the track is awesome and I can’t wait for the latest era of Angels & Airwaves to really take off!!!

#FeelGoodFriday: Angels & Airwaves – ‘The Adventure (Acoustic)’

It’s been just over 10 years since Angels & Airwaves released their debut album, We Don’t Need To Whisper and in celebration of that, Tom DeLonge has re-recorded acoustic versions of 4 fan favourites, on a special We Don’t Need To Whisper Acoustic EP (released on iTunes today).

Their debut single, ‘The Adventure’, was released in 2006 and reached Number 20 in the UK charts, kicking off a fantastic side-project for Tom DeLonge and co. Since then, the band has had a few member changes but that hasn’t stopped them branching out from music into feature films, graphic novels, novels and more.

This track is a refreshing take on the original and is just as beautifully captivating and uplifting, just in a different way. It may have been stripped back but it hasn’t lost any of the passion or essence that made the original so exceptional. My only flaw with the EP is that I would have loved the whole album to have been re-recorded in this style.

No music video has been made as yet but the lyric video serves as a brilliant companion piece with a series of behind the scenes footage from the era of the debut album’s inception and recording.

What are your thoughts on this acoustic version of ‘The Adventure’? Have you got a #FeelGoodFriday track for us? Please leave your thoughts or song suggestions in a comment or via social media.

#WildCardWednesday: Angels & Airwaves – ‘Into The Night’ & ‘…Of Nightmares’ Review

Angels & Airwaves are undoubtedly my all-time favourite band and Tom DeLonge is an inspiration to me! The band has taken on many forms over the past (nearly) decade but each incarnation has been brilliant and all part of the bigger picture.

Tom DeLonge has clear visions for his art and that makes him admirable – his idea for the whole Poet Anderson universe has been brewing for several years and its all coming to fruition in many interesting ways.

First came the animated short film, ‘Poet Anderson: The Dream Walker’ with its accompanying album, ‘The Dream Walker’ there was also a trilogy of prequel comics, leading to the events which take place in the short film, but more recently, comes the first in a planned trilogy of novels, ‘Poet Anderson…Of Nightmares’ with its accompanying EP of the same name.

The EP contains 4 brand new Angels & Airwaves tracks, including ‘Into The Night’, which is a classically epic tune; big chorus, euphoric instrumentation and Tom’s instantly recognisable vocals, which is our #WildCardWednesday track this week.

The novel is amazing too – co-written by Tom himself and New York Times Bestseller, Suzanne Young, it is a young adult novelisation of the Poet Anderson universe and it is sensational. I may well be biased due to my love of AVA, but it is a very captivating story. The events take us through Jonas/Poet Anderson’s life; the death of his parents and loss of his brother to the dream world, through to his learning of the ins and outs of the dream world itself. Along the way he meets Dream Walkers and is tempted by the villain, REM. The book is actually remarkable as it allows you to gain a much better insight into Poet’s universe and when you re-watch the animated short, it feels like you have much more of an idea about what’s going on. It allows you to connect much more intimately with the characters and it has unquestionably left me with a desire for the next two novels to be made…soon please! 😉

It would appear that the next step for Tom DeLonge and the Poet Anderson universe, is for a longer animated film to be made and even a feature-length live-action film. Needless to say, I am very excited about these things to come and just hope that Angels & Airwaves will continue for many years to come – I’ll be with them all the way.

*Ponders to self ~ Hmm…now I just need to find a way to get involved with these projects somehow!*
