#FeelGoodFriday: Kesha – ‘Raising Hell’ featuring Big Freedia

It’s been a couple of years now since Kesha released her rather open, honest and clearly very healing 2017 album, Rainbow.

Now, 2019 sees the pop songstress release a downright catchy-as-hell new single, ‘Raising Hell’ (featuring Big Freedia), which also comes alongside the announcement of her next record, High Road.

This latest song sees Kesha return to a more fun-filled pop sound but with a fresh feel and something seriously uplifting about it! The brass-led breakdowns are funky and will get a crowd moving, whilst gospel-like moments really raise the spirit of the track. It’s definitely the kind of track you can keep on repeat.

It also arrives with a music video directed by Luke Gilford, where Kesha assumes the role of a big-haired, ’80s-style televangelist, preaching her own unique message and making the congregation speak in tongues…that is before things take a very dark turn! Well worth a watch (below)!

Her new album, High Road, comes out 10th January 2020, and is set to feature the likes of Sturgill Simpson, Brian Wilson, Dan Reynolds (of Imagine Dragons) and Nate Ruess (of fun.) – personally, I can’t wait!!!

What are your thoughts of this pop songstress’ new track? Are you as much of a fan as us? Do you have a #FeelGoodFriday track to recommend us? Please leave your thoughts or song suggestions in a comment or via social media.

#ThrowbackThursday: B*Witched – ‘C’est La Vie’

B*Witched are an Irish quartet, consisting of twins, Edele and Keavy Lynch, Lindsay Armaou and Sinéad O’Carroll, who burst onto the scene with their debut single, ‘C’est La Vie’, back in 1998.

The song was such a huge success with its unique brand of upbeat, Irish-themed pop and peaked at Number 1 in the UK Charts. The track was filled with a series of double entendres and in 2013, the girl group revealed that it was in fact about sex.

This song kicked off a hugely successful (albeit relatively short) career, with their next three singles all peaking at Number 1 in the UK Charts, and both their albums also reached inside the Top 5!

The music video was bright, vibrant, super cheesy and downright fun, featuring the girls’ iconic denim-on-denim style, which became a signature part of their branding.

What are your thoughts of this pop quartet’s Irish-flavoured, Number 1 hit? Did you love it first time around? Are you still a fan today? Got a #ThrowbackThursday track to recommend us? Please leave your thoughts or song suggestions in a comment or via social media.

#FeelGoodFriday: Marianas Trench – ‘Rhythm Of Your Heart’

Marianas Trench (Brighton show review here) are a pop rock band from Canada, who formed in 2001 and is fronted by the multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, Josh Ramsay.

To date, the band have released four full-length albums and in 2017, the band released this incredibly catchy, pop-infused, synth-driven anthem, ‘Rhythm Of Your Heart’. No details of a new album have been mentioned as yet, but with a strong single like this, surely one must be in the pipeline?!

The video (below) is pretty funky with all its neon-ness too.

What are your thoughts of this funky pop rock band’s latest single? Have you got a #FeelGoodFriday track to recommend us? Please leave your thoughts or song suggestions in a comment or via social media.

I can’t believe this song is already 3 years old already (…well 2 when the single was released, but 3 when the album was released).

‘Birthday’ is a very much disco-inspired (nu-disco) song from Katy Perry‘s third studio album, Prism. It has been compared to the likes of Prince and Mariah Carey and is rife with double entendres around the theme of celebrating a partner’s birthday.

The suggestive lyrics add to the fun of the song but the chorus is catchy and uplifting as anything! It’s just perfect for a #FeelGoodFriday song…I just had to post it…even if it’s not current!

What do you think of Katy Perry’s music? Is this the best of her songs for a #FeelGoodFriday track? Please share your suggestions with us and repost this.

#MellowMonday: Grimes x Bleachers – Entropy

Grimes Banner

So, this is the second post I’ve written about Grimes (previously I wrote about her track, ‘Genesis‘) but this song struck me recently when browsing new tracks on Spotify.

It’s a calming track with quite a unique, happy, easy listening vibe about it and makes for a perfect start to the week!

This song is also a collaboration with Bleachers (aka Jack Antonoff of Steel Train and Fun.) and was recorded for the HBO television show, Girls.
